How it works
Each question is worth 2 to 5 points depending on how important it is for safety. A wrong or incomplete answer counts the full points of that question.
You pass with up to 10 error points, but only if no more than one of your mistakes is a 5-point question. Two wrong 5-point questions fail the test even though that is exactly 10 points.

Is there a time limit?
According to the ADAC there is no time limit for answering the questions.
What happens if I fail?
You can retake the test after at least two weeks and pay the fee again. A passed theory test stays valid for 12 months, within which you must pass the practical test.
