Use a parking simulator to practise one skill at a time

A parking simulator is most useful when you give each attempt a single objective. It can help you understand space and controls, but it cannot reproduce the visibility, feel or responsibility of a real vehicle.

01

Learn the controls before chasing a score

Start in free practice. Find the brake, steering, gear selector and reset control. Try moving a short distance and stopping accurately. Switch camera views while stationary and notice what each view reveals or hides.

02

Separate observation and positioning

On one attempt, focus on checking the surrounding scene before moving. On the next, focus on keeping the vehicle centred in the bay. Then combine the two. Reversing on a real road requires you to exclude danger to others; a score does not confirm that legal standard.

03

Make small corrections

Pause when the angle or clearance looks wrong. Reset or make a controlled correction instead of accelerating through a poor approach. After each attempt, ask whether your starting position, steering timing or speed caused the problem. Change one thing in the next attempt.

04

Take one question to your instructor

Write down a specific observation, such as “I lose track of the front corner while reversing.” Ask your instructor how to check it in your actual training car. Do not copy screen reference points or steering timings into real traffic without supervised instruction.

Your next step

A useful attempt ends with one clear correction for the next attempt.
